Ya son 21 países los que, encabezados por Alemania y Brasil, promueven un borrador de resolución en la ONU contra la vigilancia masiva llevada a cabo por la Agencia de Seguridad Nacional de EE.UU (NSA) y para reforzar la privacidad.
Entre los 19 países que se han unido a la iniciativa de Brasil y Alemania se encuentran Francia, México y otros aliados tradicionales de EE.UU., así como Cuba y Venezuela, entre otros, informa la revista estadounidense ‘Foreign Policy’.
De acuerdo a la publicación, que ha tenido acceso a una copia del borrador de la resolución que se presentará ante la Asamblea General de la ONU, el documento reclama a los países miembros “respetar y garantizar el respeto de los derechos” a la privacidad, consagrado en el Pacto Internacional de Derechos Civiles y Políticos de 1976.
También insta a “tomar medidas para poner fin a violaciones de estos derechos” y a “revisar sus procedimientos, prácticas y legislación con respecto a la vigilancia extraterritorial de las comunicaciones y la interceptación de los datos personales de los ciudadanos en jurisdicciones extranjeras con miras a la defensa del derecho a la privacidad”.
Aunque el documento no se refiere directamente a las prácticas de la NSA reveladas por el exanalista de la CIA, Edward Snowden, esta resolución supondría el mayor esfuerzo diplomático a nivel internacional desde que se destapó el escándalo de la vigilancia estadounidense.
La iniciativa surge después de que el Gobierno alemán alegara que la agencia de espionaje estadounidense pudo haber interceptado el móvil de la canciller Angela Merkel y de decenas de otros líderes mundiales. Brasil, una de las vícitmas del espionaje estadounidense, ha solicitado a EE.UU. que le permita interrogar a los jefes de las compañías Facebook, Microsoft, Google, Yahoo! y Apple para investigar el supuesto espionaje al gobierno de Dilma Rousseff, informa la cadena Globo.
