Una investigación reciente, efectuada en varios países europeos, revela que los adolescentes del Viejo Mundo están dejando en masa Facebook, la principal red social del mundo, y en la mayoría de los casos es debido a sus padres.
Facebook está “muerto y enterrado” para la mayor parte de los adolescentes europeos, quienes prefieren otros tipos de redes sociales, como Twitter, Instagram, WhatsApp y Snapchat, viene a confirmar el estudio.
La investigación se llevó a cabo sobre el uso de Facebook por parte de los adolescentes de 16 a 18 años en ocho países de la Unión Europea por la organización Global Social Media Impact Study y descubrió que mientras que los padres y otros usuarios de más edad saturan esa red social, sus usuarios más jóvenes se están trasladando a plataformas alternativas.
“Facebook ya no está en el cuadro: está básicamente muerto y enterrado”, escribió el antropólogo principal del equipo de investigación, Daniel Miller, profesor de cultura material de la Escuela Universitaria de Londres (UCL, por sus siglas en inglés). “La mayoría de los adolescentes se sienten incluso avergonzados al ser asociados con Facebook”, señala catedrático.
Los padres preocupados por sus hijos, al unirse a esta red, tratan de controlar la vida social de sus retoños, quienes, a su vez, confiesan que “es su familia la que insiste en que se queden en Facebook y publiquen las novedades acerca de sus vidas”, explica el científico.
