Walker murió en un accidente vehicular durante un descanso por el Día de Acción de Gracias en Estados Unidos en noviembre pasado, forzando a la producción a detener las grabaciones.

“Tuvimos que tomarnos un tiempo para llorarle a Paul, el hermano que amamos y perdidos, y para analizar si seguíamos grabando la película”, escribieron los productores a los seguidores de la saga en una publicación de Facebook el martes.
La decisión para continuar la grabación fue “la única opción”, mencionó la nota. “Creemos que nuestros fanáticos quieren eso y creemos que Paul también querido esto”.
Las escenas dramáticas de la película en las que actuaba Walker fueron acabadas antes de su muerte pero algunas escenas de acción no estaban completadas, dijeron los productores.
“Hemos retomado las grabaciones y ahora le damos la bienvenida a los hermanos de Paul, Caleb y Cody, a nuestra familia de Rápido y Furioso”, destacó la publicación en redes sociales. “Caleb y Cody están ayudándonos a completar algo de la acción que faltaba en lugar de su hermano y a llenar pequeños espacios de la producción. Al tenerlos en el set de grabación, nos hizo sentir que Paul también estaba con nosotros”.
La película sería distribuida este verano, pero Universal retrasó el estreno para el 10 de abril de 2015.
“Esta película es lo más importante que hemos hecho juntos”, destacó la publicación. “La cinta permitirá que el personaje de Brian O’Conner continué vivo y nos permitirá celebrar a Paul en su papel más importante”.
El personaje O’Conner, que interpretaba Walker, es materia prima de la altamente rentable y duradera franquicia de películas.
Dirigida por James Wan, también es protagonizada por Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez y Jason Statham.

La velocidad límite permitida en Santa Clarita, California, lugar del accidente, es de 72 kilómetros por hora.
Walker, de 40 años, y su amigo Roger Rodas, de 38, no tenían drogas o alcohol en su sangre, consideró el reporte oficial. Ambos hombres llevaban puesto el cinturón de seguridad.
