Un tren de pasajeros se ha descarrilado en la ciudad estadounidense de Nueva York, dejando al menos cuatro muertos y 67 heridos, informa Associated Press.

Medios locales informan que el tren accidentado es un convoy de cercanías del llamado Metro Norte. “Iba mucho más rápido de lo que suele ir cuando se acerca a la estación”, dijo por su parte uno de los pasajeros que viajaba en el tren.
Mientras tanto, las autoridades neoyorquinas indicaron que había decenas de viajeros a bordo del tren. De acuerdo con los medios locales, varios de los pasajeros tuvieron que ser sacados en camillas a través de las ventanas.
Anteriormente se informó que algunos de sus vagones se cayeron al agua como consecuencia del descarrilamiento, pero esta información ha sido desmentida por la Policía.
Portavoces de Metro Norte, una filial de la Autoridad de Transporte Metropolitano de Nueva York, dijo que el servicio en la línea que une localidades como Croton-Harmon, Peekskill, Ossining y Yonkers con Nueva York ha sido suspendido temporalmente.
