SANTO DOMINGO, República Dominicana.- Un día como hoy se cumplen 15 años de la muerte del cantante Luis Ernesto Deschamps, mejor conocido como ”Papo MC” del dúo ”Sandy y Papo”.
Sandy & Papo fue un dúo de merengue house y hip-hop conformado por Sandy Carriello “MC Sandy” y Luis Deschamps “Papo MC”, ambos oriundos de República Dominicana. El grupo fue creado por Nelson Zapata Y Pavel De Jesús, después de asistir a una audición para Proyecto Uno.
El grupo formó parte de la fiebre por el merenhouse del que fueron parte agrupaciones como Proyecto Uno, Fulanito, Ilegales, entre otros.
Según nuestro corresponsal Odalis Vega, se recuerda que el 11 de julio de 1999, Papo falleció a la edad de 26 años al chocar con un árbol mientras viajaba en un automóvil con 3 amigos en la Autopista de las Américas en Santo Domingo Este. Sandy MC siguió como solista y lanzó el tema “Homenaje a Papo”, en homenaje a él.
En su momento tanto el como el dúo era el paradigma a seguir en cuento a música se refería. Popularizaron temas como Es Hora de Bailar, Huele pega, El Alacrán, Mueve Mueve, entre otros
