El video colgado en YouTube muestra el incidente que ocurrió la semana pasada durante una entrevista en el Parlamento británico organizada por la Sociedad Henry Jackson (organización de politólogos británicos).
El incidente tiene mucho que ver con el ‘ataque’ de 2008 en el que un periodista iraquí lanzó un zapato al presidente George Bush en el curso de una conferencia de prensa.
Durante la entrevista el iraquí, identificado como Yasser al-Samarani, se levantó aparentemente para dirigirse a Bremer y dijo que tenía dos preguntas para Bremer, una de Saddam Hussein y la otra del pueblo iraquí.
“Es el primer mensaje”, dijo el hombre lanzando un zapato. Sonriente Bremer inmediatamente reaccionó tratando de coger el segundo zapato lanzado por Al-Samarani.
“Tiene que mejorar su meta, si quiere hacer tal gestión”, contestó Bremer. Cuando los guardias detenían a Al-Samarani y se lo llevaban, él gritó a Bremer acusándolo de haber destruido Irak: “Habéis destruido el país, que te den a ti y a tu democracia”.
Poco después Al-Samarani fue liberado bajo la condición de no asistir nunca a ninguna actividad realizada por la Cámara Baja del Parlamento británico.
