¿Para qué fue creado el Club Bilderberg?
El Club Bilderberg celebra sus encuentros desde 1954. El primer encuentro tuvo lugar el 29 y el 30 de mayo de aquel año en los Países Bajos, y fue promovido por el emigrante judío polaco y consejero político Józef Retinger, preocupado por el creciente antiamericanismo provocado por el Plan Marshall en Europa. Por eso, decidió reunir a los líderes europeos y tratar de promover su entendimiento.
El propósito del grupo era “hacer un nudo alrededor de una línea política común entre EE.UU. y Europa en oposición a Rusia y al comunismo”.
Se encontraban en plena guerra fría y a algunas personalidades les preocupaba que sus negocios acabaran siendo afectados por el tenso clima.
¿Por qué lo tachan de ‘misterioso’ y ‘ todopoderoso’?
La cita anual se lleva a cabo a puerta cerrada y no se permite el acceso a los medios. Tampoco se publican conclusiones.
Entre los asistentes se encuentran banqueros, miembros de la realeza, dueños de medios de comunicación y empresas, expertos en materias de defensa y líderes políticos de Europa y EE.UU.
Desde su creación, prácticamente cada año han asistido miembros de familias poderosas como la de Rockefeller o los Rothchild. Representantes de las compañías Coca Cola, American Express, British Petroleum, JP Morgan y Microsoft también son asiduos a los encuentros. Desde la presidencia de Dwight Eisenhower, todos los mandatarios estadounidenses han asistido a algún encuentro del Club Bilderberg: John F. Kennedy, Lyndon B. Johnson, Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, George Bush padre e hijo, Bill Clinton y Barack Obama.

Según la escritora y periodista Cristina Martín Jiménez, los miembros del grupo planean abordar algunos de los problemas que ellos mismos han causado. Uno de los temas principales que se trata es la crisis ucraniana, “en la que el Club Bilderberg ha ejercido su fuerza”, subrayó la investigadora.
“También se habla de la próxima expansión del Club Bilderberg hacia China”, agregó.
