EE.UU. ha presentado a Irlanda una solicitud de extradición de un irlandés de 28 años de edad que presuntamente está involucrado en la distribución masiva de pornografía infantil en internet.
De acuerdo con ‘The Independent’, el hombre fue descrito por un agente especial del FBI en el Tribunal Supremo de Irlanda como “el mayor proveedor de pornografía infantil del planeta”. Eric Eoin Marques se presentó ante el juez Paul Gilligan a la luz de una solicitud de extradición por el FBI. Después de la audiencia, Marques fue puesto de nuevo bajo custodia hasta el próximo jueves.
Marques, que tiene dos ciudadanías -irlandesa y estadounidense-, fue detenido el viernes por la solicitud de EE.UU., que le imputa cargos de distribución, conspiración para distribuir y publicidad de pornografía infantil en internet. Los cargos se refieren a imágenes en varias páginas web que se describen como extremadamente violentas y que representan la violación y tortura de niños prepúberes.
El juez se negó a permitir liberar a Marques bajo fianza. Si es declarado culpable podría enfrentarse a penas de hasta 30 años de prisión.
