Diecinueve grupos rebeldes islamistas de Siria rechazaron participar en las conversaciones de paz y criticaron fuertemente a aquellos que decidan colaborar con el régimen de Bachar al Asad.
“Consideramos que la participación en la conferencia Ginebra II y la negociación con el régimen equivale a comerciar con la sangre de los mártires y es una traición a la patria, y quienes lo hagan tendrán que rendir cuentas en los tribunales”, dijo la coalición en una declaración en video el domingo.
Dijeron que van a rechazar de plano cualquier resolución que no llame a derrocar el gobierno de Al Asad lleve ante la justicia a sus miembros, responsables de crímenes de guerra.
Según Naciones Unidas, más de 100.000 personas han muerto en el conflicto sirio. Se inició en marzo de 2011, cuando las fuerzas del gobierno reprimieron a manifestantes pacíficos y el conflicto se transformó en una plena guerra civil.
Los grupos rebeldes que surgieron en el transcurso del conflicto se han extendido en todo el espectro ideológico, desde los la línea dura, como muchos grupos islamistas, hasta los grupos pro-occidentales. Los 19 grupos rebeldes representan sólo una parte del movimiento popular contra el régimen de Al Asad.
La propuesta conferencia en Ginebra, Suiza, entre los funcionarios del gobierno sirio y líderes de la oposición —con la intención de negociar un fin a la guerra civil en el país— se ha retrasado varias veces, pero programó tentativamente para finales de noviembre.
Potencias mundiales piden negociaciones
El secretario de Asuntos Exteriores británico, William Hague, dijo la semana pasada que las conversaciones tendrán como objetivo llevar a cabo una transición democrática en Siria, en la que Al Asad no jugaría ningún papel.
Las palabras de Hague se produjeron tras el encuentro “Amigos de Siria”, que reunió a los cancilleres de países como Estados Unidos, Reino Unido, Francia, Turquía y los países del Golfo, con los líderes de la oposición siria.
Irán —aliado del régimen sirio y defensor en su postura hacia los rebeldes— dijo el sábado que tomará parte en la conferencia propuesta si recibe una invitación, según reportó la agencia de noticias iraní IRNA.
Pero el domingo, la Coalición Nacional de Siria anunció que no participará en las negociaciones si Irán está ahí, dijo en un comunicado el portavoz del grupo de la oposición.
“Ellos (Irán) no estaban presentes en las conversaciones de Ginebra I. Ellos son parte del problema, no la solución”, dijo Luay Safi, haciendo referencia a las actividades de Irán en Siria.
El canciller iraní, Mohammad Javad Zarif, dijo a la prensa el sábado que “Irán hará todo lo posible para ayudar a resolver el problema a través del diálogo entre las partes sirias”.
Estados Unidos y Rusia anunciaron en mayo que iban a tratar de acercar a las partes en conflicto en una segunda conferencia en Ginebra para poner en práctica el plan de paz que aprobaron en Ginebra en 2012, lo dejó abierta la pregunta de si Al Asad debe dejar el poder.
Se cumple fecha límite para el plan de destrucción de armas químicas
Siria cumplió el plazo para que Siria presente un plan para deshacerse de sus armas químicas, dijo el domingo la Organización para la Prohibición de las Armas Químicas.
Damasco también envió una declaración sobre las actividades no prohibidas por los tratados de armas químicas como una “medida de creación de confianza”, dijo la organización en un comunicado.
Los inspectores de armas internacionales han estado en Siria este mes para comenzar la verificación y la destrucción del arsenal de armas químicas.
El jueves, la OPAQ dijo que sus inspectores habían visitado 19 de los 23 sitios de armas químicas divulgados por Damasco.
